OxyContin-maker Purdue Pharma and Sackler family agree to pay $270 million to settle Oklahoma state opioid case

OxyContin maker Purdue Pharma and its owners, the Sackler family, have agreed to pay $270 million to the state of Oklahoma. As part of the agreement, Purdue will contribute $102.5 million to fund the creation of a National Center for Addiction Studies at Oklahoma State University.

A woman used Tennessee nurse Misty Dawn Venett’s credentials to land healthcare jobs and caring for paitents without training or expertise. The case is being investigated by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
